Doral Vice Mayor Sandra Ruiz sponsored a resolution to condemn billionaire presidential candidate Donald J. Trump for his allegedly “racist” comments about Mexican immigrants.
The city is home to one of Trump’s largest assets, the Trump National Doral Miami golf course and hotel. He previously received the city to the key, but his popularity with public officials there has waned since he made controversial remarks about Mexican immigrants on June 16 when he announced his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination.
The population of Doral is mostly Hispanic and foreign born.
Trump said about Mexico: “They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems. They’re bringing drugs; they’re bringing crimes; they’re rapists; and some, I assume, are good people … It’s coming from more than Mexico. It’s coming from all over South and Latin America, and it’s coming probably from the Middle East.”
Univision, which has a large studio in Doral, quickly pulled out of Trump’s Miss Universe telecast, as did NBCUniversal. NBC also yanked Trump as host of reality TV show "The Apprentice." Trump responded with a breach of contract lawsuit against the networks.
Losing major national broadcast rights to the pageant limited the TV exposure Doral can expect from the event.
In the proposed resolution – up for consideration by the council on Aug. 5 – Doral would praise the contributions of immigrants to the growth and development of the United States as well as Doral.
“The mayor and city council desire to condemn Donald J. Trump’s comments as racist, derogatory, inflammatory, and having no place in the greater American political discussion,” the proposed resolution reads.
The resolution would have no legal impact on Trump or his businesses, but it would serve as a public relations blow for both. Many experts have questioned whether Trump’s comments will hurt his business interests in South Florida.
Still, despite the controversy surrounding his derogatory comments, Trump is looking good in the polls. On Wednesday, St. Pete Polls said Trump was leading the GOP field in its latest Florida poll at 26 percent. Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush was next at 20 percent.
And the ignorance continues.
Will I hope the resolution will help with the mayor’s hemorrhoids, but he best make a trip to CVS for a tube of Preparation H.

Illegal aliens are not immigrants.
They are not undocumented.
Most illegal aliens have multiple sets of documents in different names.
Immigrants are people who apply in their home country to be Americans, pay their fees, wait their turn, learn the language and comply with the laws.
Illegal aliens do none of that.
Illegal aliens ignore all of our laws and must break multiple laws daily to continue their illegal presence in our country.
There are no “otherwise law-abiding” illegal aliens.

Mexicans are one of the MOST RACIST people in the world.
I lived there for 10 years and you can’t even throw out a joke without playing the race generalizing game.
Seems like I remember more “asian” jokes than “black” jokes growing up.
Although the Titanic joke about Leonardo Di Caprio takes the cake. Can’t say it in English cause it’d be ‘racist’.
