“This is part of the misunderstanding: We never said people who aren’t Japanese can’t wear a kimono,” she said.

Well, I suggest this be part of the UNderstanding: Nobody gives the slightest crap what you say. Clear?

Go to Tokyo or Beijing, and you’ll find millions of people attired in Western garb. Are they, too, guilty of cultural appropriation?

Such nonsense.

I was born in Japan, but I'm not ethnically Asian or Japanese.

If because of that these protestors believe that I'm somehow guilty of "cultural appropriation", then I demand that Obama switches out his fancy tailored suits for a grass skirt and a giraffe-hunting spear.

It is becoming increasingly obvious that the insanity, which the White guilt-ridden egalitarian has embraced, has next to no appeal to self-respecting people of other races. Unlike the Leftist white looneys, most Japanese have legitimate pride in their race, their cultural identity, heritage & competence.

Let me go further, it is an insult to anyone, whom the White guilt-ridden egalitarian embraces as an object for their offensive patronization. The only actual "White privilege," evident here, is to be spared this offensive patronization. While the patronization is an insult, to be demonized by these looneys is rather a compliment.

In a sane world “Cultural Appropriation” would be a good thing, an acknowledgement of the quality and value of the culture and the customs or items “appropriated.”

Loreto Ansaldo, a Chilean woman who is protesting "cultural appropriation," said there is a misunderstanding between her and Japanese women. "This is part of the misunderstanding: We never said people who aren’t Japanese can’t wear a kimono," she said.

LOL, no, you totalitarian maniac, the misunderstanding is that you should have any say whatsoever in what anyone wears at all.

I was just in Japan. At many of the tourist spots, there were people always dressed in kimonos, male and female, from Japan and Hong Kong and elsewhere. They loved it.

I cannot fathom these protesters.

Cultural appropriation is how civilization flourishes. Example: During the time of the ancient Chinese Silk trade, China became the most advanced civilization on the planet. This is because trade with other cultures allowed China to adopt goods, ideas, knowledge, and technologies that were beneficial to them. They took the best the Romans, Persians, Indians, Arabs, and Europeans had to offer and integrated it into their culture.

Compare this to what happened in the 15th century when China isolated itself from the rest of the world. Same people, same culture, but without access to outside innovation, China was quickly left behind.

Seems like the folks complaining either don’t know that cultural cross-pollination is a good thing, or they are purposely hoping for a decline in American culture. My money is on it being a little of both.

After you have a culture that thrives on being victimized, what is the NEXT sordid step?

A culture that thrives on being offended ON BEHALF OF OTHERS, who do NOT feel offended.

AKA normal people.

The fun of being the ONLY insane person soon wears off, then you have to get OTHER to be similarly insane.

Then THAT wears off and you have to make EVERYONE insane —you can’t rest until you do.

It’s like some sordid JUNKIE, always looking for that higher high.
