The comparison I wanted to make was about views on and efforts to ingratiate with Islam. Napoleon and Obama tried, neither with great success. I don't recall that VI Lenin had much to say on the subject.
Napoleon was flirting with Islam when he was in Egypt. He did it to ingratiate himself with the Egyptians and Ottomans. Basically, Napoleon was a pragmatist and had little personal regard for religion.
Napoleon also sought to appeal to Catholics by rolling back the draconian anti-Catholic revolutionary reforms. He was rewarded with an imperial crown by Pope Pius and opposition in the Vendee was mitigated. Nonetheless, he thought nothing for the Catholic religion.
However, 0bama has always had a personal affinity for Islam. As you know, 0bama spent many of his formative years in the most populist Islamic state, Indonesia. 0bama has also gone strongly against popular opinion with respect to his lack of support for Israel, and the 2009 Iranian revolutionaries.
