Nevada has added ten states whose permits it will recognize, dropped Michigan and New Mexico, and will recognize both permits from Idaho and North Dakota instead of only their enhanced permit. Here is the list of states that Nevada will recognize, as of June 18th, 2015.
From Nevada Division of Public Safety(pdf):
Pursuant to SB 175 and AB 488 of the 2015 Legislative Session, the State of Nevada will recognize concealed weapons permits from the following states:
Alaska
Arizona
Arkansas
Delaware
Idaho (both types of permits)
Illinois
Kansas
Kentucky
Louisiana
Minnesota
Montana
Nebraska
North Carolina
North Dakota (both types of permits)
Ohio
Oklahoma
Rhode Island
South Carolina
Tennessee
West Virginia
Wisconsin
Wyoming
The ten states added are:
Both types of permits are now accepted for Idaho and North Dakota.
In 2014, Nevada recognized the permits from these states. I do not know how long the link will be good, because the policy has changed
- Alaska
- Arkansas
- Idaho "Enhanced" Permit*
- Illinois
- Kansas
- Kentucky
- Michigan
- Nebraska
- New Mexico
- North Carolina
- North Dakota "Class 1" Permit*
- Ohio
- South Carolina
- Tennessee
It is unknown why Michigan and New Mexico were dropped from the list, or why more states were not added.
Nevada has a very unusual qualifier for its reciprocity list. It requires the Nevada Sheriffs' and Chiefs' Association to approve of any state on the list compiled by the Department of Public Safety. This is a very strange delegation of considerable power to a non-elected entity that is by nature, private. It seems a poor precedent to give an organization of law enforcers the ability to decide what the law is.
Update: AB488 amends SB175 to remove the Nevada Sheriff's and Chiefs' Association power to veto states from the reciprocity list.

Hard to understand why they do not recognize some states, such as Texas or Florida. That's what I'm wondering.
Does Nevada specify individual states, by law? Or is there some criteria that has to be met, and an agency makes the determination?
Is it a reciprocity issue?
Can anyone in Nevada explain?

Michigan just passed a new law eliminating their local “gun boards” and I suspect the Nevada Sheriff's Association (Union thugs) did not like that since Michigan County Sheriffs sat on those gun boards a decided who could carry and who they determined would not be allowed to carry, as well as who would have their gun rights restored and who would not and the union thugs in Nevada did not like that much power be given to the local people so they removed Michigan as a childish way of punishing the State of Michigan for daring to rein in out of control government (Union thugs)!

Oh Happy Happy Joy Joy
Nevada will now reciprocate with Arizona. I can now legally carry my firearm in Nevada.
Sorry Charlie, I haven’t been in Nevada for damn near 30 years and I sure as hell ain’t going back now. Besides, I no longer recognize or acknowledge that Nevada is a state.

So if you’re from another state like Texas, you have to open-carry?

When in doubt, get a Florida permit, which can be applied for by mail. It is recognized in a lot of states.

From the post: “Nevada has a very unusual qualifier for its reciprocity list. We thought we (s)elected conservatives to control both houses but, like I replied to Dean’s article at Gun Watch, there was so much infighting and backstabbing going on in the, now ended session(are we safe yet?), that we’re lucky we didn’t actually lose some things. Why no FL or TX? Weird. The sheriff’s course I took in FL to get my ccw doens’t carry any weight here. Of course like many folks on here, the constitution is considered the actual permit. :>}

Or Washington. We have a rather in-depth background check. My last renewal took ten days; in the meantime I bought that .40 S&W at a gun show. Two pages of documents to fill out for the fed’s and one for the state.

They apparently don’t like their neighbor Utah either.

Permits requirements of any description are a clear infringement upon the rights the second amendment recognizes as God given.

Open carry is legal and does not require a permit. With strong pre-emption in Nevada, it is a viable method to carry there. I intend to use it while I am visiting.

Does Las Vegas have separate CC laws?”
Clark County used to have a separate requirement for handgun registration. The new law invalidated it and required the registration lists to be destroyed.
Las Vegas does *not* have separate concealed carry or open carry or any firearm laws that are at variance with the State laws.
