Mexico is playing a duplicitous game with the West, and it is time to take a more serious approach towards the geopolitical risk emerging south of the Rio Grande
As the United States and Canada struggle with geopolitical challenges abroad, the potential weak link in continental defense sits at the U.S. southern border. For too long has Mexico forged a political path that often acts at cross-purposes to the goals of its democratic northern neighbors. And the problems run far deeper than just Mexicos internal difficulties with the drug cartels. The nations true allegiances remain undefined.
The Mexican ambassador to RussiaRuben Beltranhas recently come out with some recent statements to Russias official media channels that should cause concern in American and Canadian diplomatic circles:
Russia has all the elements and relations [needed] to successfully counter the current economic crisis ... Many are talking about Russias turn towards China, but we see that Latin America is also playing a very important role in these relations and we also see that countries such as Myanmar and Bahrain have very promising relations with Russia and so do some of the German companies, Beltran said ... Beltran added that Russian business circles are developing appetite for strengthening ties with the countries of Latin America. He also noted that Mexico and Russia are bonded by very close friendship and this should be celebrated, especially given the fact that the year of 2015 marks 125th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Mexico is the enemy?
Who knew.
Yeah, and we’ve gotta deal with NAFTA!
Mexico should NEVER have been included in NAFTA.
Yeah, I know, I know.

Yet another reason (as if we *needed* another reason) to station 250,000 troops on the southern border.
Yeah, I know, I know.

Mexico is not nor ever has been an ally of the United States.
As a self made and intentional third world country they
strive to be right the opposite of the United States.
Being forced by my own government to have to work with these
third world wetbacks, I cant help but pick up on the fact
that out of all the immigrants to this country from around
the world Mexicans truly hate America.
Yup. We sent all our jobs there, and now they’re coming here to look for jobs. Or something like that.
“Close the border, deport the illegals”
It would be more effective just to jail the criminal employers
for 20 years and confiscate their property as ill gotten gains.
Let the wetbacks self deport.
Mexico isn’t as bad as people may think, with many large and nice cities and beautiful country. It’s because Mexico sends its uneducated and criminal class into the U.S. that it gets a bad rap, and these also tend to congregate along the border. Mexico uses illegal immigration as a kind of international welfare. It’s the easiest solution to economic and other problems that their socialist government cannot deal with on their own.
When, if ever, will we learn? And now TPA and TPP is thrown in our face!!!!
We need the government to protect us, and set prices at a level where people have jobs.
Ever since Trotsky fled to Mexico...
I never knew my grandfather went off to WWI because the Germans offered to help Mexico take back our southwest.

The only thing we don’t is the history we haven’t read.
The communists running our gov’t. have opened the floodgates for a reason.
We need to get the government out of our business. Period! They screw up everything they try.
We need to come to some sort of agreement with these countries where tariffs are lowered to zero on both sides.
IMHO, ain't gonna happen.

Mexicanista. Maybe you’d be happier in Mexico. It’s utterly idiotic to suggest Mexico is a nice place by any rational standard. Of course it has some nice geography, as does every country on earth.
But only the criminals and uneducated Mexicans come here?
Its a corrupt state utterly paralyzed by the Cartels and by a government even more corrupt than our own.
You guys are all wrong on this issue, WE NEED MEXICO just the way it is, and we will do whatever it takes to maintain the status quo. Mexico proudly supplies the US with the help of the US Government 85-90% of ALL Controlled Substances not available without a prescription, if we were to upset them, where would America get the Drugs from? How the Politicians get rich and powerful? what would happen to the Police State we created for the express purpose of enforcing the War on Drugs?
Make no mistake, you CANNOT HAVE A WAR ON DRUGS WITHOUT DRUGS.
Who will FIRE 3 out of 4 Police Officers, Judges, Prosecutors, Clerks, Probation Officers, Prison Guards,Counselors, ....The list of PUBLIC EMPLOYEES directly involved is staggering, and we haven’t even got to the private sector yet.
The chances of the Southern Border EVER being Secure are about the same as OJ Confessing.
