Did this church have “No Guns Allowed” signs?
If not, there’s the problem.
Our church is on a main highly used artery, so it is not uncommon for people to drop in and ask for handouts, gas money etc...often times our elders get the matter handled.
YET, one Sunday while in Sun. School, the greeter/elder brings a young man into our group, he sits down with a scowl face, he was not happy and it showed, he sure scared me enough to peripherally watch what he was doing. We welcomed him and teacher went on with the lesson. About 5 mins into the lesson, this young man abruptly jumps up, mumbles something and scrambles out the door.
What the heck was that about? I still don't know, and it didn't seem to raise any suspicions or concerns with the Elders. It sure did me, maybe I read too much on FR, to see what can happen and very quickly.
I think at the very least the Greeters should be armed. We have one Greeter that is at the door all during Sun School and Church sermon.
Other than that, perhaps it is time for Churches to hire off duty police to patrol/sit in the cars at or near the front door.
