Fight to Right the Wrong
Dear Congressman Rush:
I am one of your constituents of the 1st Congressional District. I was your neighbor in Bronzeville. I remember well your days with Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and the Black Panthers. You were a firebrand and I mean that in a very positive way.
It is said that age mellows us. You may well be an example. You decided on politics, working within the system. Now I, and many of your constituents, am asking you to work within that system to right a terrible wrong.
Historically slavery lasted from 1619 to 1865. Reconstruction, as it has been labeled lasted from 1865 to 1870. But who benefitted from the Reconstruction? Whites were paid for the loss of their property, the slaves. Even though General William T. Sherman issued Special Field Order No.15 which called for the setting aside of land along the Georgia and South Carolina coasts for newly liberated slaves few were able to take advantage of the promised 40 acres and the promised loan of army mules. Newly elected President Andrew Johnson repealed the order and whites reclaimed the property. Of course you are aware of all of this.
In a newly published article 40 Acres and a Mule Would be at Least 64Trillion Today (http://www.yesmagazine.org/issues/make-it-right/infographic-40-acres-and-a-mule-would-be-at-least-64-trillion-today) the economic impact of slavery is well outlined. Perhaps you had not thought of slavery in this exact way or maybe you have.
I distinctly recall the objections to not only why reparations should be paid but how could we even prove we were eligible? Now DNA and gene studies can answer that question. So what now?
The objections raised to slavery reparations are many but have a common thread:
Why now? Why us? Alfred L. Brophy has written recently about the cultural war
over slavery reparations; he cites polls that indicate approximately 70% of blacks and
5% of whites in Alabama support reparations. The divide is less severe nationally, but
still it is significant, bearing witness to the very legacy we are discussing. It is my sense
that a closer look at human rights law is needed to provide the political will and the legal
framework for realistically resolving the concerns of the unconvinced and to heal the soul
of a conflicted nation. By Michael F. Blevins, J.D., M. Div., L.L.M.-IHR (2005)3 St. Thomas University School of Law ©May 9, 2005
The question now should be how do we make reparations, not if. That is a job for you and other black legislators and concerned others who know this wrong needs to be made right. Perhaps start by taxing the rich appropriately, fight Citizens United. Provide tax deductions for African Americans. I dont know the answer but I do know many of us elected people we thought would find an answer and work to make it so!
Respectfully,
Danielle Kizaire-Sutton
$64 trilion dollars now. It climbs fast.
Will Rachel Dolezal have to pay herself?
Will the white half of Obama be forking any over to his black half??
Dear Miss Sutton,
Please inform me how long you have been enslaved and for how much you believe you are personally entitled to.
We already gave them about $22 trillion just since LBJ’s administration along with hundreds of thousands dead in the civil war and hundreds of thousands dead from black crime. That sounds like $64 trillion to me. Or we could buy some land and mules from ISIS and settle them there.
Sorry. You aren't getting one penny. Find a new issue to bitch about.
All for it. Now even if it were in the US,the mule will be dead within a week from neglect and the land will go to weed within a month. Thus there should be a stipulation that the land can only be used for farming and cannot be sold and that they are responsible for the annual property tax on the land.
The real number is a bizillion.
The good news is that ANYONE can declare themselves as Black!
I was only considering my attachment to the Indian Nation since lizzy warren linked high cheekbones to American Indians — like her, I wanted access to special scholarships and a thumb on the scale to get ahead in every position.
Now, I see a little hair-curling means I am a BLACK, with every reparation and victim buck that go with it.
I retroactively want my college loans reworked since I am now BLACK and want repayment for that time when I was perceived as white.
rofl. I have reparations for them. But they have to meet me at a certain bar in Bay Ridge. Where they’ll be safe.
We’ve written enough checks. Exactly.
And when are some of the indigenous tribes which were complicit in the SlaveTrade over in Africa going to start kicking in some cash?
We tried that before.
It created Liberia.
During my terms in the military we evacuated American civilians from Liberia three times and had to escort them out with troops two of those times.
Just let the eternally aggrieved burn their own neighborhoods down while those with a clue intermarry and quit being a separate ethnicity.
Imagine how vapid and shallow her life must be that in late middle age her prime concern is hitting the welfare mother lode rather than reflecting on or participating in some real accomplishment.

I'm looking at my last pay stub, and noticed that I got $26¼ in Fed Taxes taken out of my cheque, to say nothing of Medicare and SS.
More than $13.13 of that is used to fund social welfare programmes that disproportionately "aid" Negroes, in the form of AFDC/TANF, above all, which is COLD HARD CASH that is just GIVEN to them, with almost no strings attached (thanks to Obama).
Have you NOT achieved the goal of extorting reparations from the segment of the WORKING American population?
Which, BTW, is disproportionately WHITE?
Moreover, this outright EXTORTION affects ANYONE who works, and draws a cheque from a private employer. Even those who work for low wages, like myself.
I could use an extra $13 every fortnight, to pay for my engineering degree. (And the loans that come with it)
Around the same time, I was looking over my telephone bill. I pay $13 in taxes alone, of which ~$6 goes to the Fed/State Obamaphone slush funds.
Reagan created the Universal Service Fund/Lifeline to give less affluent Americans the opportunity to stay connected. It provided a discount on regular telephone service, and the subscriber still paid the difference. They had some "skin in the game," as some would say.
Of course, Obama just had to give something else away to his worshippers...
Wherever the Obamaphone service is carried along a GSM network like Cingular or VoiceStream, there is NOTHING stopping the benefit-recipient from getting an (unlocked) iPhone or high-end Android SMART-PHONE off eBay, &c., and inserting the smart-card that provides the free telephone service into it, further cutting the card down as necessary.
Ta-da! Now we're paying for their free phone, and Internet service.
Because, unlike those who push for reparations, I realise that NOTHING in life is just handed to me. I have to WORK for it, and in turn, make my own life better.
That is why I endure the long hours, and physically demanding work now, while looking forward to starting my career, with low debt.
But paying for all this FreeStuff™ is really testing my patience, knowing what the recipients do with it.
I tend to write impassioned speeches from time to time..../rant off
As if any black.people would accept 40 acres and a mule today. Give me a break. If such were offered, it would be rejected as racist and playing up stereotypes of sharecroppers.
Simply not true
Having read your message, I totally agree with reparations. I too am an African-American and believe I should be made whole since my ancestors weren't.
You ask ancestors? Okay. Archeological science has long determined that Homoerectus and later Homosapiens came from the Africa continent. No matter the differences in skin color, eye color, hair color/texture, nose size, lip size, skinny butt, big butt, etc., we are ALL African-Americans.
The above said, the entire world is grateful for your tireless efforts. Please let me know where to pick up my check. I need some new Jordans.
Cordially,
A Don't Give One Sh*t About Your Erroneous Pathetic Issue.
Ps. Rachel Dolezal, the president of your NAACP chapter in Spokane, WA is doing you supposedly true African-Americans wrong. Still, hope I get my check.
PPs. Are you now or have you ever been a "community organizer" for the slave trade that is still current in Africa? Think Somalia for one. If not, I would be happy to send you the stats and particulars.
What about repairations? It ain’t gonna happen unless Obola gets a third term. Believe me, if Eric Holder could have forced it upon us, he would’ve.
Translation: I don’t want to have to work for a living...GIMME!!!
