Can you still buy the Jiffy Pop thingie that’s enclosed in foil and expands on the stove-top?

Yeah. They're coated black now. I assume a cheap Teflon coating??

O not sure if it was part of Jiffy Pop, but I remember a magician on the cover of an enclosed foil where you pop it on the stove-top. I can’t remember what his name was. Boy I enjoyed that alot.

The Jiffy Pop thing, at full bloom, always reminded me of a black dude with an Afro (except for the color). /racism

Yes, in fact Jiffy Pop has had a resurgence in recent years because it's seen as more "authentic" than microwave popcorn. Popping up a batch of JP on the stovetop is tailor made for the hipster crowd. They like to have gritty, authentic experiences that separate them from the average Joe but not too gritty, and JP fits the bill. Another one is shaving with a non-disposable razor.
