"An armed society is a polite society" only applies to societies that follow the rule of law and have a cultural background that respects individuals, property, and the rights of others.

There have been many societies that were armed and *not polite*. "Karamojo" Bell, the great elephant hunter, wrote of the tribe that inhabited the region in Africa where he first hunted. A boy did not become a "man" until he had killed someone, it did not matter if the person killed were man, woman, or child. It did not matter how they were killed. Virtually everyone was armed, and slept with one eye open.

Perhaps a better way to say this would be "Power creates respect"

Is it legal to drive a golf cart on the road? It’s not licensed or street legal, is it?

I don’t know how many stories I’ve heard about people with DUI convictions losing their license and then using a golf cart or riding lawn mower to run their errands.

I would never entrust my life to a Hi-Point. It is the cheapest pistol imaginable. I don’t care how poor you are, don't bet your life on a cheap pistol.
