Not certain if the above is the same Brandon Walker from Yakima, but it seems likely.
The gun was carried "open Carry"
It was a 357 sig We think this person was trying to get the handgun by knockout hitting him in the head with a aluminum bat.

The very reason I am opposed to open carry, but don’t think one should make it illegal. If people see your gun, you become a target.
Just a hunch....
I’d strongly recommend you remove both pictures until you are absolutely sure you are correct with both identifications. The consequences for being wrong are not pleasant for personal finances.
He’s an idiot for open carrying in the first place.
X2
Guy was trying to prove Darwin and damned lucky his victim was a decent human being.
You should be able to carry your property where you want
Maybe you’re on the wrong board.
Concur. Strongly.
Open carry is a trigger and micro agression /s
I open carry off the track. Walking through the fields and woods. I do not like the attention it draws in town. When I carry in town it is my business until someone tries to attack me and then that’s when I make it public.
I do not think there should be restrictions against open carry. It’s just not for me.
That was totally unnecessary. I did not post that it should be illegal. I only said I was opposed to it because it made the carrier a target. So, would you vote to remove me from Free Republic? All we ever do hear is fight with each over concerning small disagreements. No wonder conservatives can't unite to fight the real evil, the Godless, immoral types who would completely enslave us all.
Here's a proper response: "Well, I disagree. I believe one should be able to carry one's property wherever (s)he wishes and respect your opinion to disagree with open carry due to the risk it causes the one carrying."
I don’t see any evidence that open carriers are targeted any more than concealed carriers. I think open carry is a great reminder that there may be concealed carriers nearby. Its also eliminated the “crime” of accidental exposure.
I’d love to see the numbers on the number of attacks on open carriers vs concealed carriers. At this point most “attacks” on open carriers are liberals calling police as they pee on themselves but police in my state are increasingly relaxed about open carriers.
To each his own.
I don't think he's an idiot for doing so, just unwise because the potential is there for it to make him a target for some nutcase (which is exactly what happened).
In Texas Mr.Zumwalt would be taking a dirt nap.
I should be able to walk through Detroit at 2AM counting a large wad of cash. This doesn't mean it's wise to do so. Concealed carry keeps them guessing.
I like open-carry being legal in case a concealed gun becomes momentarily visible, so there is no basis for harassing the carrier.
Ever think open-carrying is what made him a target to begin with?
Open carry ought to present a barrier to being assaulted.
Only an idiot would attach someone who demonstrates they are capable of defending themselves.
I can imagine the incident becoming an scenario of Dain Bramage or Death had he not been open carrying.
Further, this Jack Wagon could have gone a batting practice spree against other shoppers had he not been carrying.
He normally carries concealed but, didn’t feel like wearing his jacket, which would have slowed his ability to present his weapon.
That was my point. Citizens open-carrying have bullseyes on them. Not my opinion, but stories like this are a dime a dozen.
