The Left is by nature parasitical. Consider the obsession with
redistribution, with inequality of existing wealth - it is an ideology of thieves who can only understand their fellow citizens in terms of theft. That obsession is what prevents socialist governments from creating wealth. The inequities necessary to drive the economic engine aren't permitted - they're "unfair".
The danger with that in the United States is that there is so very much to steal that the game can continue long after the guilty parties have passed on. It took 14 years for Chavez to cripple Venezuela, but cripple it he did. Recovery will take generations.
