The Corker Bill Isnt a Victory Its a Constitutional Perversion Corker
by ANDREW C. MCCARTHY April 18, 2015
As the Framers knew, we are unlikely to outgrow human nature. So what happens when we decide weve outgrown a Constitution designed to protect us from human natures foibles? The question arises, yet again, thanks to Senator Bob Corker. The Tennessee Republican, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, is author along with Robert Menendez (D., N.J.) and Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) of a ballyhooed bipartisan bill that is being touted as the derailment of President Obamas plan to trample congressional prerogatives en route to a calamitous deal that will facilitate jihadist Irans nuclear-weapons ambitions. (I use scare-quotes because the so-called deal is still a work in regress.) So guess who now supports this stalwart congressional resistance to our imperial president? Why none other than . . . yes . . . Barack Obama!
Just one....even a small victory will do.
Is it too much to ask to be thrown an occasional bone?
Mark Levin said this right away. Aside from being outraged and feeling helpless - my question is WHY? Why is the GOP submitting to this? Do they think they will personally somehow escape the consequences?
It’s similar to the Reichstag giving total power to Hitler with the Enabling Act.
The legislation was coauthored by Senators Corker, Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Tim Kaine (D-Va.). Cosponsors of the bill include Senators John McCain (R-Ariz.), Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.), Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.), Bill Nelson (D- Fla.), Jim Risch (R-Idaho), Angus King (I-Maine), Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Dean Heller (R-NV), Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), and Ben Sasse (R-Neb.).
Co-sponsors
Marco Rubio and Rand Paul
And there were Rand and Marco voting for it.
Do you see Ted Cruz’ name anywhere on that unconstitutional document? I didn’t think so.
Thanks for letting me know what IDIOTS they are.
Say what you will about Donald Trump - and there’s a lot to say - he isn’t this stupid. I’m thinking we need someone from the real world to lead us - I’d vote for Sarah in a heartbeat but no point in wishful thinking. So far I’m liking Cruz and Walker.
If there is, I’m sure Obama will do it.
