I remember waaaay back in ‘02 when the dustoff with the Fighting Whities occured. It was hilarious to hear all the support and how it blew up in the Leftists’ faces!

I picked out the nickname when the college hockey team I supported was forced to abandon their great, storied team name The Fighting Sioux.
When I went to school there (where the med school pioneered an Indian-focused medical program) the American Indian students were all good sports about it, near as I could tell.
I grew up on a reservation though not the Sioux Reservation.
At any rate the Native American Center on campus had their own intramural sports team called the Fighting Norwegians...thought that was pretty cool too.
