SFTRU? STFU!

If you REEEEAAAAALY are “A rider-based, grassroots organization working to improve transit in San Francisco.” you would welcome competition showing the city how it's done.

maybe the public is tired of dirty, smelly, and often very-overcrowded transit buses .. (including the ones the drivers, and others, use as toilets)

a little free market competition can only help....

A perfect example of the evils of capitalism. Some people end up being poorer than others. No fair. The rich should be forced to ride the smelly, uncomfortable buses.

Maybe these buses ARE elitist in some sense. But the difference between me and the people in this story is that I don’t feel a compulsion to do anything about it. If some people want to pay to ride high-end buses, I’m not going to stop them unless it creates a REAL PROBLEM.

Aw, poor babies.

Funny thing is that replacing streetcars with buses was supposed to break monopolies (most were owned and operated by the big power companies) and return street-borne mass transit competition to the private sector. And then of course, the cities and states took over the bus networks, deeming the competition “too fierce” among other things . . .

If these buses are a problem, then privately owned cars must signal the end of life as we know it.

Lady, you have had emotional and psychological problems far longer than this outfit has been around, far far longer.

Poor people - that is, “people of color” - don’t have access to your car, either, do they? You can see where this is going.

[“There is this libertarian philosophy that supports these private ventures, and that is really destructive,” McElroy explained.]

“Libertarian philosophy” is not what supports these private ventures. It is consumers allowed free choice in a free market to patronize these services.

I wonder if THIS union, like many others, was started on the promise of better everything for transit workers, riders and everybody; and soon became a fiefdom with a few liberal fatcats at at the top, raking in big salaries, while the bus system went to the dogs?

This whole thing is HYSTERICAL. Look up “Gentrification” on Wikipedia and they have the Google Bus as an example.

If, some day, one of my kids manages to land a job at Google, I will DEMAND (actually, just encourage), him/her to live in San Fran, right in THE MISSION, as they have GREAT BURRITOS there, and take the GOOGLE BUS every day to work - just to stick it in their faces.

Private buses deprive the middle class of the punishment it needs to stay humble. Or scared.

People who use Leap are also “privileged,” she continues.

Ping me when she complains that the people who live in Pacific Heights and Nob Hill are "privileged."

I didn't think so.

I swear before god almighty, eternal hostility to those who can be “triggered”. I don’t care what happened to you, and how sad it was. I have NO obligation to tippy toe around and avoid every behavior that might make you think of something you don’t want to think about.

As Led Zep sang,,, “when your conscience hits you knock it back with pills,,,,”

Do that, go to therapy, stay indoors 24/7 with no electricity, I simply don’t care. BUt rest assured, if I know you have a trigger, ill try to pull it.

Freaking Jewish people with numbers tattooed on their arm are going on river cruises down the Rhine and Danube. Men who shot it out on Iwo Jima show up in a Toyota to go in the McDonalds to drink coffee. Guys who slugged it out in Hue are walking into your local Vietnamese buffet. And Saints Preserve us,,,people in Hiroshima, at this very moment, are using a microwave and getting x-rays.
And -you- dare to tell me you have a “trigger”?
As Snoop would say,,, “Bit@h Please”

So take your trigger warnings, and shove the right up your wazzoo,,, while you are passed out drunk, and didn’t consent, all right there in your safe room with plush animals and playdoh at Brown university.

Its time we embraced our right to live freely, and for the sensitive types to adjust to the world, not the other way around.

Ever notice how these clowns make it about themselves instead of the issue at hand, then wonder why we ignore them?

Huh, anyone can ride for $6 a ride, $5 if you pre-pay, less if your employer contributes.

Meanwhile, we're subsidizing bus rides through the nose. It would likely be cheaper for ceasing all bus lines and handing every existing bus rider $6 per trip which they can spend on whatever they want.

But hey, how much it costs everyone else means nothing to these people.
