Is Malwarebytes and Malwarebytes Anti-Exploits two separate programs?
If so, is it advised to have both programs on my computer?
I am currently using Malwarebytes Anti-malware on my Windows 8.1 system.
Bump for the answer.
Bump for the answer.
Free and Premium paid versions. Premium does real time virus protection. I use Windows Defender on Windows 8.1 for real time and Free Malwarebytes for occasional use
MalwareBytes is NOT an antivirus product, just FYI. It is a passive user-initiated program that scans your system for malware, adware, etc. I recommend either ClamWin or Microsoft Security Essentials for free, active AV.
That said, MalwareBytes anti-Exploit is an heuristics engine that monitors your system for suspicious behavior. It COULD catch exploits or active attempts against your system, but it’s also likely to tax your system resources to actively scan.
That may be true of the free version. The paid version does do real time detection.
I use both free version of Spybot and Malwarebytes then use BitDefender free edition for Virus/Real time protection.
An exploit or stopping an exploit is more of a firewall than anything. I’d say you could use both or by a total protection of some kind.
That’s exactly what I use as well.
Two different programs with two different functions to protect against malware.
Blocks dangerous exploit-based malware and prevents the damage it can do
Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Premium protects you from zero-day exploits targeting browser and application vulnerabilities. Its proprietary technology guards you in that critical period between the release of a new exploit and its security patch. And, unlike antivirus products, Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Premium proactively prevents the exploit from installing its payload. Before it can do damage.
How it works for you
Four layers of exploit protection (application hardening, protection against Operating System security bypasses, memory caller protection, application behavior protection)
Proactive technology
Protection for older Windows operating systems, including Windows XP
Ability to add and manage custom shields
No signature database
Small footprint
Anti-malware and antivirus compatible
Blocks unknown and known exploit kits
What it does for you
Protects browsers, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, and Opera
Protects browser components, including Java and Flash
Defends against drive-by download attacks
Shields vulnerable applications, including Microsoft Office, PDF readers, and media players

I do still revert to my previous comment that real time scanning requires processing power. If you have a functional virus scanner, heuristic engines provide little to no benefit and simply bog down your machine.
Anyone here use Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Premium, with Palemoon browser?
Thank you!!!
I’ve never heard of Palemoon. I’m interested now, thanks.
Palemoon is fast, lean and stable. Works great on Windoz and Linux, terrible Android version. I like the private window feature in PM. PM uses same Addons and Extensions as Firefox. Not perfect but my preferred browser and I have tried them all I think.
I won’t use IE, Firefox is to bloated, slow and bug prone. Chrome is Google, tracks everything.
:-)
