That’s 3/4 of a million. I wonder what the total sum of money is supporting them, I have read the US pays the majority of costs of the UN. It’s way beyond disgusting. Many of these hell hole countries would have no power whatsoever were it not for the UN. I guess that was the original purpose anyway.

http://www.un.org/en/sc/about/functions.shtml

Under the United Nations Charter, the functions and powers of the Security Council are:

to maintain international peace and security in accordance with the principles and purposes of the United Nations;
to investigate any dispute or situation which mightlead to international friction;
to recommend methods of adjusting such disputes or the terms of settlement;
to formulate plans for the establishment of a system to regulate armaments;
to determine the existence of a threat to the peace or act of aggression and to recommend what action should be taken;
to call on Members to apply economic sanctions and other measures not involving the use of force to prevent or stop aggression;
to take military action against an aggressor;

etc etc

So tell me, how secure do you feel? Isn’t it nice to know you are protected? /s

The US pays the most because they want the "leverage" which that gives. The UN is basically simply a money laundering machine.
