Republican women to discuss Ted Cruz

The Whittier Republican Women Federated is weighing the pros and cons of Ted Cruz as a possible presidential candidate, 7 p.m. Thursday at 8240 Las Pasadas Dr. Eric Dutra and Ariana Assenmacher lead the discussion.

NORWALK

Career expo set for Wednesday

Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District and Rep. Linda Sanchez, D-Cerritos, are offering “Emerging Careers for the Future: Career Opportunity Expo” for students from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Norwalk High School, 11356 Leffingwell Rd.

The expo gives attendees the chance to envision career paths in innovative work sectors, including green technology, health and medicine and automotive technology.

The event kicks off with a panel presentation featuring representatives from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Rio Hondo College Nursing Program and the National Tooling and Manufacturing Association Machinist Training Program.

Docent training set for Sanchez Adobe

The Montebello Historical Society is providing docent training for the Juan Matias Sanchez Adobe Historic Site & Museum 946 N. Adobe, Montebello from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and April 11.

The Sanchez Adobe is oldest residence in the city of Montebello, built by Dona Maria Lobo in 1844.

LAKEWOOD

Groundwater festival slated for Sunday

The Water Replenishment District of Southern California holds its annual free Groundwater Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at its office, 4040 Lakewood Blvd.

About 40 exhibits will offer hands-on activities, educational materials and information on a variety of topics, as well as games, prizes and food.

Teams forming for Relay for Life

Whittier’s Relay for Life, a 24-hour fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, is seeking teams for this year’s event, which takes play May 2-3 at Hillview Middle School, 10931 Stamy Rd.
