Democrats Are The Party Of The Poor
Leo McNeil ^ | February 25, 2015 | Leo McNeil

The Democrats have presenting themselves as the party of the poor since FDR. The media of course has been lapping this up for at least that long. Despite all of the big government programs pushed by the Democrats, particularly the so-called Great Society programs of LBJ, poverty hasn’t declined. All the Democrats big welfare programs have done is create a stagnate dependent class. Unmotivated and unwilling, these people have been largely living on the dole for decades going on generations. The Democrats have long bought their votes with promises of at least maintaining welfare benefits, if not promising to increase them.

Of course not all poor people are completely dependent on the dole. There is a group of working poor people out there, some of whom are knocking on the door of the middle class. Some of them have already reached the lower middle class. The Democrats have long considered these people part of their constituency. It begs the question though why the Democrats keep stabbing them in the back. Obamacare, for example, is going to be offering quite a surprise to millions of working poor and lower middle class Americans. The Obamacare tax is going to hit them with a penalty of 1% of income this year, 2% next year and 3% the year after. Those who bought Obamacare policies and relied on tax credit subsidies are also in for a rude awakening. Over half of the people who obtained a credit were given too much of a tax credit by Obamacare. The IRS will be evening the score to the average tune of $530.

Obamacare is the exclusive domain of the Democrats, having been passed only with Democrat votes in Congress. That isn’t stopping them from attempting to flee from the tax consequences that are disproportionately hurting the working poor and middle class. Also hurting the working poor is President Obama’s executive amnesty plan. By handing out green cards and other assorted papers to 5-7 million illegal immigrants the Democrats are creating competition for jobs on the lower end of the pay scale. We already have tens of millions of Americans without jobs, adding 5-7 million people who are here illegally to the job pool isn’t going to help these Americans. Yet the alleged party of the poor is creating unnecessary job competition for their own supposed constituents.

The Republicans have been given a golden opportunity to make a play for votes of the working poor and lower middle class. They will, of course, squander their opportunity. The Democrats are only the party of bureaucrats and rich liberals. They’ll claim their for the poor but they aren’t for the poor, they’re for power. Obamacare is set to cost the working poor a fortune. Executive amnesty for illegals will cost many people their jobs. Unfortunately the Republicans refuse to do anything about Obamacare other than whine about it. Worse, half the Republicans support Obama’s amnesty plans. This includes liberal Presidential front runner Jeb Bush. Rather than standing with the working poor and lower middle class, the Republicans are acting as Obama’s amnesty cheerleaders. We have Americans losing their jobs or otherwise having their jobs threatened by these criminals, the Republicans could easily argue that they support American workers not illegal workers. Unfortunately, half the Republicans cannot be distinguished from the average Democrat.

Because the Republicans are so liberal the Democrats will continue to claim to be the party of the poor while stabbing them in the back. Obamacare is costing all Americans a small fortune, it’s costing the working poor even more. If they aren’t paying out of pocket for overpriced and unnecessary health policies, to say nothing of paying massive deductibles, they’re paying the Obamacare tax. Even when they think they’re getting a tax break for buying a policy, they get hit with a $530 tax adjustment. Meanwhile the President is unilaterally providing work papers to millions of people here illegally who will compete with Americans for scarce jobs. The Republicans cannot even capitalize on this golden opportunity because they’re so foolishly liberal themselves. And so the Democrats will remain the party of the poor because no party has offered them an alternative.

That may be true. They remain the party of the poor because the Republicans are run by liberals who dutifully follow the Democrats script.

The other group of big Democrat supporters are the affluent professionals. The GOP is much more likely to be able to sign them up if taxes continue to increase.

Republicans are the party that want the poor to be rich and have the same freedoms the rich did to create that wealth. They want to people to empower themselves and create wealth from feedom.

Democrats are the party that want the poor to stay poor and be good little controlled slave voters. Mindless drones for pennies with a masterclass of "leaders" over controlling their lives with regulation after regulation.

So yes, democrats are the party of the poor enslaved unthinking masses.

Democrats are, indeed, the party of the poor. The poor have certainly increased in number under Democrat administration.

The problem is that only half of the GOP thinks that way.

Democrats are the party who keep the poor, poor.

That was my first thought when I read the headline. I could not agree more strongly. Thank you.

The Rats are the party of the poor so they need more poor people to get more power. They don’t want the poor to stop being poor.

I would love to see Ted Cruz and other conservative republicans make this illegal amnesty into a major issue. I think most Americans are sick of seeing illegals take away their jobs and receive a pass for breaking the law. This is an important issue the republicans could use to beat the filthy rats. The majority of Americans are ready for someone to fight for their interests for once.

We are now in the dictatorship of the proletariat where the Constitution and the rule of law mean nothing, where feelings and atheistic “morality” rule the day.

Long live the revolution, Comrades!!!

IMHO

When I was a kid of about 8 or 9 years, I got my first lesson in politics from my parents. I asked “Why do you vote for Democrats?” My Dad, a blue collar union man who was 12 years old in 1929, said “Because the Democrats are for the little guy”. My Mom chimed in “And because the Democrats pay two dollars for a vote and the Republicans only pay one.”

If you believe that one party represents the poor, logic follows it is in that party’s interest to keep you poor.
