What to do when a city manager is caught in ethics violations

recently, came to my attention after filing a police report, whereby the city manager granted special provisions to his insurance carrier whom was in violation of a zoning ordinance. the zoning ordinance is specific and the city manager allowed the zoning ordinance infraction to be overlooked, a multi-vehicle accident whereby serious injuries ensued. The city manager is claiming doing nothing wrong, but the emails claim otherwise

small town corrupt city manager has stuck his feet into a big problem whereby serious bodily injuries ensued, because the city manager granted exemption to the zoning ordinance.

Contact the County D.A., and if there isn’t one then go to the State Attorney General. They love public corruption cases.

Comitting ethics violations is part of city manager job descriptions.

First you need to check if a application for a variance or special exception use was filed with the zoning board and if it was whether they recommended for denial or approval. Then see if the council met on the issue and whether they agreed with the board. If no such action has been taken then you need to find out if a violation was ever reported to the code enforcement board and how it was handled. If the City Manager did squash a complaint you should check the portion of your State statutes that deal with the administration of municipalities and how to and whom to file an ethics complaint against the City Manager.

Read him his rights. Make an arrest. Send out the DA and the detectives to collect evidence now that he’s not in a position to destroy or delete it.

Document, Document, Document !!!!
Don't voluntarily give him any information on yourself.
I once worked a place where my supervisor was corrupt. He was able to get anyway with unethical behavior because he intimidated other people by blaming them and twisting the truth around. Be cautious a lot of these political hacks are buffoons but ruthless professional liars.

You could write a letter to the city council, sending originals to all the members. There is also no doubt a state ethics commission of some sort and other avenues of official redress for ethics violations. If you send a letter or file an ethics complaint, do not expect speedy and favorable action or flowers and kisses for being a good citizen.

My brother and I once caught, tagged, and bagged a prominent home town state senator on a clear ethics violation. It took several years, lots of followup, and the timely help of several reporters and a columnist for one of the state's leading newspapers.

In another episode, my brother sparked the defeat of a penny transportation sales tax proposal in a local referendum. He spoke out at a county commission hearing and rattled the snakey chairman with a single question, helped strategize the anti-tax campaign, and debated against the chairman and the tax on local TV. The result was a large and unexpected defeat for the tax despite a massive campaign effort to pass it.

After enough experience over the years with battling bad government and bad politicians, me, my brother, and my sister as well know that when we deal with government, we need not suffer mistreatment or let any wrong go by without there being consequences for those at fault.
