He was a third string player on a prep school team filled with rich white kids. I don’t think he ever had a game, he just thought he was good because of his half-black background.
The school probably had to make a spot on the team for him, or incur the wrath of his mother or whoever was handling him. I doubt there was anything he ever earned on his own or worked for. Seems to me he had everything handed to him.
Maybe he was the “equipment manager.”
Bingo. The only black guy on his high school basketball team, and he didn’t have enough game to come off the bench.
