The same thing has been said in many different ways including, once they’ve seen Paris you can’t put them back on a farm, or you can’t put the toothpaste back into the tube. The arrow of time always goes forward. Hitler’s death pits won’t be undug, and Beethoven’s symphonies won’t be unwritten.

However, the Regency period in England (very early 19th century) was a period of debauchery and loose morals. England was successful, but not terribly admirable. This period was followed, in time, by the Victorian Age.

Time moves forward, but societies CAN recover from moral decay.
