The Blizzard That Wasn’t

Over-reaction of meteorologists and politicians

Dateline: January 27, 2015 - 3 to 4 AM, New York City and Tri-State area.

There was no climate change where I live in a suburb of Newark, N.J. if by “climate change” you meant a dramatic blizzard with high winds and several feet of snow. It’s winter and you get the occasional, rare blizzard every few years, but more often you get snowstorms. That’s not “change” by any definition.

Listening to WABC radio follow events with callers from around the Tri-State area calling in with far more accurate reports than the meteorologists was an education in the way those trained in meteorology and the rest of us have been conditioned to believe that something is happening to planet Earth that, quite simply, is not happening.

You don’t shut down a city based on pre-storm. Not a darn reason those folks couldn’t go out. Just a little nippy and windy. Big whoop.

They can’t accurately predicate the weather tomorrow, let alone predicate the weather 40 years from now. Shut up you GW idiots.
Science says, climate change is NORMAL.

Why. . . did the Governors of New York and New Jersey, along with the Mayor of New York City close down the metropolitan area?

That, to me, is more frightening than all the TV hype and scare tactics. Government officials are more and more willing to use police powers to shut down private economic life over a snow storm or other non-crisis event. Its the convergence of two horrible trends -- the media's desire to scare-monger and the government's desire to exercise its power in a "crisis."

When will you all learn ... there is a war WITH fear going on

Afraid to fly, afraid to carry a gun, afraid to tell the local school board, NO, Not to MY child, afraid to drive without a license, afraid to go out at night ...

get it ?

They've put in place, laws ... that support the fear they created and "officers" that uphold the "laws" ...

The next revolution will be horrible because it will be against closer relations than the Cival War ... The born again guy you sit next to in church, the neighbor's nurse daughter, the kid across the street that just entered the police academy ... all good people ... all Americans ... all willing to support and uphold their respective "law"

I predict Wolverines against our own

We haven't coined the word 'sheeple' for nothing, nor does the word always inply some passive individual

When I want to check the weather, I read my barometer after looking out the window. No offense to TV weathermen since we have at least one here at freerepublic.

Don’t you realize that all of the political hype SCARED mother nature into not doing her worst case on the poor people of NYC.

Imagine a person who is college age right now. This GW bologna has been going on long enough that it is their point of reference.

Break a sweat in the summer - global warming.

Drought - never happened before!

Really cold weather - Polar Vortex due to climate change.

There have to be millions of (as Rush would say) young skulls full of mush who genuinely believe the entire nation had the climate of southern California, before Grandpa started burning coal.

In before anthropogenic climate change is blamed for the blizzard not happening.

One of these two things happened:

1) There actually was a blizzard, because the gov’t said so.
2) The gov’t didn’t say there would be a blizzard.

They predicted 20”, we got 2”.

They always, always predict more than we get — don’t they have any sort of PID feedback on their models?

Predictions of weather events of even a few days in advance can laughably inaccurate as we have just seen with the snowmagedon predictions of the last few days. Similarly climate alarmists have predicted catastrophic hurricane seasons for the last few years yet the actual number of hurricanes is the lowest in decades. If these “experts” with all their sophisticated tools and computer modeling cannot give a reliable weather forecast of even a few days in advance, how can we be so assured of climate predictions decades in advance?

Yea, but wasn’t Boston supposed to get 3 feet?
