There is an expression in police work: If you werent there you dont know what happened. Cops know you need all available information to make a good judgment. When a cop sees a lady sawed in half on a stage he/she understands that what is being presented is a carefully crafted illusion. They understand that seeing a brief video, even one that was shown on television thousands of times doesnt necessarily provide proof of what happened.
The Rodney King case brought acquittals for the police when the first jury saw all of the available video; but a conviction when the second jury saw a carefully edited version of the same incident.
Lately we have been seeing videos of police interactions with civilians that have ended badly. Apparently, far too many people who must believe professional wrestling is real and magicians really do cut the lady in half are being heard from. They reason that since they saw these things they must be true.
In the Eric Garner case many people couldnt be bothered looking any further than the three minute cell phone video presented to them by a media with a recognizable bias against cops. Fifty eight witnesses and six weeks of testimony meant nothing so, Dont tell me; I saw the 3 minute video, prevailed.
While we dont have the exact number of police civilian interactions that occur each year nationwide, there are some numbers from the New York City Police Department...

when I read these, I usually conclude that “Coach is Wrong”.
The sawed in half lady was in the waiting room scene in “Beetlejuice,” so she really was sawed in half.
:^)
Yeah well. He supported Giuliani so he is not nearly as conservative as he wants us to think.

Years ago, there was a sideshow freak who was cut off at the waist. The carnival also had a “cut the woman in half” show.
Every so often, they would cut a man in half.
One day, they got the great idea of switching out the man with the half man for the top, and a midget for the bottom.
After the sawing, and when the man got out of the box, he would scream, fall to the floor, his top half (the half man) would crawl off stage in one direction, and his pants (with the midget) would run off the other way.
The audiences would panic! But there would be more people in to see the show next time.
There’s a video out (sorry, don’t know the url) of one of the black leaders who was yelling about the cops who was asked to go through three scenarios of suspect v. cop. The first scenario was a suspect trying to break into a car when suddenly he shot the black leader playing the cop role. The second scenario was similar to Brown charging and, surprise, the “cop” shot him. When asked why he shot the unarmed guy, he said he was being charged. The last scenario was similar to Garner. The “cop” had the guy on the ground but couldn’t hold him and ended up shooting him. The black leader admitted you only have a second to decide. Walk a mile in a cop’s shoes before protesting.
