The belief is widely held that those who are wealthy or possess great political power are above the law and do not have to respond to the legal constraints endured by the great masses of Americans. Those on the left who profess to support the poor and middle classes are quick to point out that the wealthy class can afford to have better access to the legal system. They can afford the best lawyers and rarely receive lengthy prison sentences.
The other social class that enjoys privilege is the political class. They too can often find themselves given better treatment by the court system. For example, the nephew of Chicagos Mayor Daley II was involved in a fight outside a bar. A person he struck fell, hit his head, and died. While it appeared that the death was accidental, a Court trial was avoided for ten years because the Court somehow lost the Court file. So the Mayors nephew avoided prosecution. Eight years later the case was brought up again by a Chicago newspaper, and finally heard. Senator Ted Kennedy received only a slap on the wrist two month suspended sentence for the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, whom he left to asphyxiate in an Oldsmobile he drove into the water, reporting the accident to authorities the following day.
These are examples of how the families of the rich and famous are treated differently by the Justice system, a system that is supposed to be applied equally to everyone regardless of social status....

Funny how we’ve been saying this for years.
But no Republican brings it up. Except maybe Sessions.
This is the intent of the Democrats: to make illegals a Protected Class under the law.
Most already fall into the phony protected class of Hispanic, created by Nixon.
The writer notes here what we all asked in 1974: why them? They were never slaves. We owe them nothing. Were they discriminated against? Without a doubt. We fought a war with Mexico and a war with Spain. They werent exactly our friends. Does being a former enemy qualify you for legal reparations? They were discriminated against because they were not of our nation and they were - and are - adversaries.
So with all of that in mind, why would we grant people in the country illegally a broad range of immunity from prosecution: entering illegally, working illegally, identity fraud, tax evasion...the list is endless.
And its a ludicrous inversion of rights. Only in an upside down universe would people with no political connection to the nation be accorded more rights then those who are part of that nation.
Mexican-Americans were the only group that were forcibly brought into the U.S. and given citizenship automatically; slaves did not receive that, nor did Native Americans. Likewise, though they found themselves in another nation, their property rights were respected.
Yes. It was part of the deal. Seguin is still considered a patriot Texican.
Note the huge gratitude on their part for that.
Perhaps I should have included the /sarcasm mark for the second statement...
