What’s ironic is that if these protesters had done what the lunch counter protesters of the sixties had done — that is, move into “white space” by sitting down and ordering a meal — no one would bat an eyelash. Instead they have to come in and be disruptive to make their point, whatever it is.
A really pithy response by the restaurant manager would have been to have simply offered them a table. What would they have done then?
Call the fire marshall and cite the restaurant owner for violating fire code occupancy numbers.
If he won’t run off the agitators, let him handle the fine for overcrowding.
