But what specifically is unique about what they are doing in the industry?

Kevlar what? Carbon Fiber what?

Government is going to find a way to hinder this technology. It will want to impose a costly approval process over nearly every product design, all in the name of “safety” and “consumer protection” of course. And they will charge “review fees” to get products “certified”. This will be fertile regulatory ground for several agencies.

The classical "impossible object" was the hollow, seamless steel sphere. With 3-D metal printing, it's now possible.
