Thomas, above, died after being struck with one punch.
On December 21st, just before Christmas, there occurred a tragic example of a one punch homicide. It seems clear that the homicide was unintentional, as the victim agreed to be hit. Both young men were at a party and appear to have been drinking. From khou.com:
Before the fight, the two shook hands and smoked a cigarette together, witnesses told sheriff's deputies. Thomas, who apparently hit a car that the suspect was sitting in, agreed to let Galen hit him. This is a graphic example that a punch to the head is potential deadly force. It is important to understand this; once you know this to be true, you can testify that you did, and a prosecutor and jury can be informed that you had this knowledge.
But Galen hit Thomas so hard that he fell backward on the pavement and never regained consciousness, sheriff's spokeswoman Shari Ireton said. After friends could not revive Thomas, one drove him to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, Wash., where he later died.
BS. Just look at a fight scene in any movie or the WWE. People can take countless punches right to the head. :)
There’s punch drunk and then there’s punch dead!
50 year old drunk who never grew up decided to get into it with a couple of 20 somethings in the bar parking lot.
He swung first, missed and the young man tagged him right between the eyes. Straightened up and fell back, head to concrete, no resistance. There is a body of thought suggesting that he died on the way to the ground.
Idiot. Got himself killed. Badly damaged his family and ruined a young man's life. Not to mention there is a real possibility of another killing now. An endless cycle of stupid.
If the kid agreed to be punched then he shares responsibility for his fate IMO.Maybe not legally but certainly morally.
Just like Houdini.
Indeed, and their faces rarely show a mark, swell up, or show bruising later on.
A good friends brother was at a wedding reception. Behind him and completely unbeknownst to him, at another table an argument suddenly became physical. One drunk threw a roundhouse punch, missing his intended target and hit Pete square in the back of his head. Pete went face down in his meal dead.
