Anyone who has been a conservative Republican their whole life like me knows there is nothing new here. As a Poli Sci major in college during the 1980s myself, I got a double dose this in college. It is no secret in this country that academia, not mention the teachers unions, the media, and the entertainment community (Hollyweird) hate and detest all things Republican and especially all things conservative.

This will force—probably against the will of Professor Douglas—what these days is generally opposed by college professors but ironically what is the conceptual foundation of universities: to discuss ideas in an open forum.

Her vicious statements should not be seen as commenting on 3 politicians since she emphasizes they are REPUBLICANS. This is a slur and expression of extreme prejudice against all Republicans.

She needs to be censured and later fired if no apology is forthcoming.

There are two factions in DC of the same party. No longer do we have a two party system. Stringing Boehner up by the Buster Browns will be a good first step to rectifying that.

She is now making noises about the thing being retitled from "Why We Can't Get Along". Within the text, however, she is very specific about hating people and why it's OK. And why the two sides aren't going to get together - no prizes for whose fault she claims it is - and how she misses a Republican she used to work for who was socially progressive. It reminded me of the oft-heard (on FR) lament that Dems like Hubert Humphrey aren't in charge of the party anymore, but I don't recall that ever being used as an excuse to hate anybody.

The woman is an over-emotional political partisan with a crashing ignorance of her opponents and an unswerving faith that her ridiculous stereotypes are fact. This piece wouldn't be considered graduate-level work if it came from a student. Hell, it wouldn't even be considered collegiate-level.

Then I guess that it is all right that I hate Professor Susan J. Douglas, University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science and Arts, chair of the Communications Studies program. Now that was a real mouthful of superfluous puffery to get out! Douglas is a self-important fop and a legend in her own mind.

I read this article and couldn't believe what I was reading, a communications professor at a noted University openly advocating hatred of Republicans. An intolerant democrat displaying for all to see and hear the narrow mind of the democrat. This professor is presumably intelligent and the author of many books, (I haven't READ NOR DO i INTEND TO), I cannot understand anyone displaying such hatred being allowed to teach young minds, in an atmosphere of presumably, an exchange of ideas. It would seem the only ideas to be tolerated are her own. This is the world of higher education? This is the world liberals have created a world of intolerance under the guise of openness and tolerance. This woman is toxic and should not be allowed to spew her venom to young minds.
