Come on now. He was innocently on his way to choir practice when he was assaulted by what he thought were some street thugs trying to shake him down. Right? Hello! Crickets.........

If you watch the video, you clearly and quickly know what sort of a guy Eric Garner was.
Eric Garner’s poor character doesn’t excuse the lack of necessity and type of takedown employed.

No matter what comes of all this, one thing is certain...Officer Pantaleo’s police career is over. He will never work as a police officer again. If he hasn't done so already, he should resign, because de Blasio will see to it that he's fired. And after seeing the video, no police department will ever hire him. Even if there was a department that would want to hire him, the media fallout would make him too toxic. Officer Pantaleo should spend his time deciding on what new career field to enter.

Every time this issue wobbles & loosens up, African-Americans’ respect declines 1 more notch—not for the “law”, (what’s that?)”, but for the minimal civic decency all communities rely on for safety & decency.

There are many among us who will riot any old time over any old thing! All it takes are a few community organizers.

None of this matters.
Eric Gardner was arguing respectfully with the police. The police then attacked him with deadly force—The choke hold has been responsible for hundreds of deaths and its use is banned by the NYC Police Department for that reason. Once he was done and dying the police (probably because of incompetence) failed to render reasonable aid.
The police need to learn to be humans again.
