Blacks, Race Relations No Better Under Obama

Yesterday President Obama lent his support to the spirit behind the rioters in Ferguson. He declared their frustration is rooted in “hard truths.” Obama actually called the rioters criminals before saying they should work with him. It’s nice to see the President’s narcissism never takes a break. Perhaps the highlight of his comments from yesterday is when he declared that he wouldn’t comment on a local situation such as Ferguson because it isn’t the job of the President to comment on ongoing investigation of specific cases. Maybe the President has finally learned his lesson after ‘the cop acted stupidly’ and ‘if I had a son he would have looked like Trayvon Martin.’ More likely, the President is simply avoiding comment on the obvious innocence of Officer Darren Wilson in this case. Obama will comment at will in future local cases if it suits him.

The big question is why the black community would work with Obama. Yesterday he channeled his inner community organizer. Make no mistake, the rioters in Ferguson are being organized by people like Obama. Back when the President was a community organizer, this is the sort of thing he would have organized had the situation presented itself. So far as anyone knows Obama never organized a riot but progressive community organizers do organize local shenanigans in the name of social justice. The whole point of these riots is to send a threatening message to white America and the government. The problem for Obama of course is that after six years in the White House he is the government, one suspects he doesn’t quite realize that. The community organizers whipping up the rabble want radical leftist change, the sort that Obama used to say he was in favor of before he focused on global warming.

Are race relations any better off today than they were six years ago? The Justice Department has supported the community organizers in the Trayvon Martin and Scott Brown cases. In doing so, they’ve divided races. The Justice Department should have stayed out of both cases because there simply isn’t any evidence that anyone was shot because of race. Under Obama, the Justice Department has cried racism over voter ID laws and in doing so unnecessarily divided races. People need a photo ID to cash a check, ride on Amtrak, have the electric turned on and obtain any sort of loan. With basic events requiring a photo ID, how is it racist to require such for voting? Sadly, in North Carolina an expert witness for the NAACP actually argued that blacks aren’t bright enough to obtain a photo ID and thus the requirement is racist. The Obama administration supported the NAACP lawsuit. No wonder race relations aren’t better.

The broader question is whether blacks are better off today than they were six years ago. The black unemployment rate is disproportionately higher than all other racists. Young black men have an astronomical unemployment rate. Under Obama, the black middle class has been wiped out. Illegitimacy remains over 70%. Schools in black neighborhoods are no better today than they were six years ago. In fact, can anyone name any program proposed by Obama that has been a benefit to the black community? He hasn’t proposed anything that has targeted the black community for some benefit, real or perceived. This isn’t really surprising, Democrats have taken the black vote for granted since the 70’s. With 95% of blacks voting for Obama, he has no need to appease them. He knows they won’t vote Republican because, unlike other racial groups in America, blacks vote as a block. The Democrats know this as well, their only concern is turnout.

Should the black community continue to follow Obama and the Democrats? In the 50 years since LBJ passed his so-called Great Society welfare programs blacks are disproportionately stuck on welfare and poverty. All the tax money spent hasn’t made the life of poor blacks any different. There are alternatives in the Republican Party, the problem is that after several generations of being lied to about supposed GOP racism blacks don’t want to come to our party. It doesn’t help any that we’ve done a poor job recruiting them. The GOP has taken them as a voting block for granted just like the Democrats. They assume they’ll get 95% of black votes, and the GOP assumes it to rather than working to change it. Blacks are no better off under Obama. Meanwhile reasonable people in the black community must be appalled over the riots in Ferguson, especially because the person they’re trying to defend is a criminal who clearly tried to attack a police officer. Until the black community stops voting as a block, nothing will change for them. They need to stop trusting in government and they need to force the major parties to compete for their votes. As it stands now, blacks are no better under Obama nor are race relations.

I'm old enough to remember the bad old days of lynching, segregation and discrimination. Black people have far more opportunities than their parents and grandparents ever did, but they have become mired in that plantation mentality. It might be a result of the Great Society, but it has accelerated under Obama. Obama has set black people back 50 or more years.

Race relations are far worse now than they were in 2008.

At this point most blacks have become a liability. They refuse to integrate into the prevailing culture and participate as full citizens.

At least under the “old order” they were better behaved and more responsible overall. Their IQ’s were higher and they had schools that actually taught meaningful skills and citizenship. Now all they think about is rage, revenge, and reparations.

That’s completely ridiculous. To say blacks haven’t integrated into the culture is absurd. A lot of American culture, positive and negative, is created by or influenced by blacks. Everything from music to food to clothing styles are influenced by blacks and this has been the case for two centuries or more. The problem the black community faces is that they’ve been organized by progressives who want them to think like a herd and tolerate a vast percentage as members of the underclass. Worse than that, the unfortunately segregated black churches have encouraged all of this, adopting progressive theology rather than Biblical theology. But to suggest the “old order” was better is to support the denial of black freedom above and beyond the progressives denial of such.

I’m not sure race relations are necessarily worse under Obama. While the riots in Ferguson make headlines and people clearly divided based on race over the Zimmerman-Martin affair, average man on the street race relations aren’t any worse. The actions of a bunch of leftist community organizers which are broadcast on the news don’t reflect all of race relations in this country.

Let’s be honest here, Ferguson is pretty mild compared to the Rodney King riots in Los Angeles in the early 90’s. They’re nothing compared to Detroit in 1967. Clearly race relations aren’t better under Obama but one riot and two or three high profile community organizer spazz outs don’t make things worse.

I understand what you are saying. However, it was my fault for not giving more perspective as to why I believe they are FAR worse. They are not worse among the general population which has long ago looked at the fact that ALL of us are created by God and bear His image. Where they are worse is among those primarily in the African-American community where they are almost completely dependent on the government to survive physically. Most of them have not broken out of their colonial victim mentality and that mentality is heartily fed by this administration. Add to that the fact that the bulk of Federal programs aimed at *helping* them have only served to enslave them the more to that pitiful mode of thinking. Overall, the greatest wound to them is the damage that their families have suffered as a result of government interference. In the past, their sense of family, with a Christian base, was much stronger. Therein lies the root of their problem now. The majority of those still trapped in the typical poverty-stricken areas have lost their sound families and much of their dependence on God.

And they have been taught(very effectively, I might add) to blame the rest of us for their problems.

By the way, the rest of our culture is heading in the same direction...with regard to both God and family....as well as an expanding dependence on government. May God help us.

I agree there is an underclass in this country that is completely dependent on the government for survival. There is a significant group of blacks who believe America owes them welfare because their great great great grandmother that no one alive today ever met was a slave. Take away the welfare and some of these people literally couldn’t survive on their own. To be fair, there is a similar group of white Americans dependent on welfare though their reasoning for dependance is different.

The great healer is using the blacks as the black plantation owner congress cretans, the racebaiters and the media do, for thier own agenda and purposes financially politically and economically. How does it feel to be used? but it’s whities fault, suck eggs I say!

That certain aspects of their culture has polluted the prevailing culture does not mean assimilation.

They as a community refuse to be educated in anything beyond grievances. Getting and holding anything resembling a job is anathema to the vast majority of the black culture. Forget your anecdotal instances of specific individuals. I am talking more broadly and this is where the problems are. They have girls at age 19 with three and four kids from as many different fathers, who are incapable of taking care of themselves let alone children.

At some point you have to declare a project a failure and direct resources elsewhere where they are more effective. And right now, I consider the black community and their culture beyond repair and unworthy of further effort.

“Ferguson wasn't about police brutality, and the President knows it. If he wanted a teachable moment this was his opportunity. He could have talked about how blacks are 13% of the population in America and over 50% of homicide victims; how 91 % of these victims are murdered by other blacks and how, therefore, "communities of color" are dependent on a police presence for survival. He could have talked about how one quarter of the members of the grand jury that chose not to indict Officer Wilson were black. He could even have attacked the racist assumption that blacks will naturally react with mindless violence to decisions like this one; and that they alone of all American minority groups will be exempt from censure when they do. There are many ways a truly "post racial" President could have spoken truth to the power of the mob that exploded in violence in Ferguson. But instead Barack Obama enabled it as his racist advisor on racial affairs, Al Sharpton, swooped into Ferguson to pour gasoline on the flames.” (David Horowitz)

Obama and Holder declarations from the first day of the death of the young Black killed by white cop were directed to incite the racial riots. Upon their conscience, or lack of it, rest the main responsibility for the Ferguson riots.
