In Pittsburgh they went into an abandoned Nabisco bakery in a crack shooting part of town where civilization had basically ended. The mere fact that an employer as COOL as Google had located there caused those with more money than brains to begin moving there, and the area has gentrified rapidly.
The area was so bad before, any improvement makes Google look golden.
