They were on UHF in Moscow when the coup against Gorbachev went down and Yeltsin was facing the tanks. This is a bit of history here.

That seems odd, The former USSR should be the ideal location for CNN. Maybe they can’t handle the anti-American competition.

Liberals poison every well they encounter. Remember, when news broke, you immediately turned to CNN? I do, but it was a long time ago. Whether it’s a news organization or a church...whatever they touch eventually dies.

>> Too bad they are on the air here <<

This article is about CNN International. They are not shown in the USA. Here, we get the domestic version of CNN. And believe me, no matter how bad you think the domestic version is, CNN Internatioal is much worse!

Well, I can tell you the reason why CNN is leaving. A recently passed Russian legislation bans foreign entities from owning more than 20% percent share of a media company. The bill is in effect from January, 1st, 2015. Some foreign media companies have set up Russian branches, CNN has decided to stop broadcasting.

A Russian newspaper “Vedomosti” says that CNN hasn’t given a reason officially while an unnamed CNN representative has said that they are withdrawing because of a law banning commercials in cable TV programs.
