Have heard different things about his 2nd amendment leanings and something else. Not sure I would go for that.

I don’t see where people are besmirching his character. They just want to know where he stands on things. Also, being a great doctor which he is, doesn’t necessarily mean he can run the United States. I like Scott Walker and always have.

Who better to lead the repeal of Obamacare

I don't believe there will ever be a 'repeal'. In fact, I believe the 'botched' rollout of O'care was as intentional as its far-reaching effects (the bulk of which have been put off until after 2015).

I believe both Republicans & Democrats see healthcare as a measure of 'control of the population' and a way of seemingly creating jobs in a jobless society. Some true Conservatives see it for what it is: A thrust toward single-payer...aka 'socialized medicine'.

I don't believe I'm the sole visionary. Neither do I believe I'm the only one to believe this election was all theater...that nothing will change in 2 years and, ultimately, we'll be delivered a either a likely democrat in '16 or another weak eRhino.

And, sans a major event to trip it all up, nothing changes while the political landscape is continually painted a brighter red and dilutes Conservatives to the point of perpetual impotence.

Wow!

What a depressing view, bursting with hopelessness, replete with surrender, chock-full of defeatism.

Are you Eeyore?

In February 2013, Dr. Carson appeared on the Glenn Beck show.

The following account is from “Mediate”:

“Asked by Beck for his thoughts on the Second Amendment, Carson gave the popular pro-gun argument: ‘There’s a reason for the Second Amendment; people do have the right to have weapons.’

“But when asked whether people should be allowed to own ‘semi-automatic weapons,’ the doctor replied: ‘It depends on where you live.’

“’I think if you live in the midst of a lot of people, and I’m afraid that that semi-automatic weapon is going to fall into the hands of a crazy person, I would rather you not have it,’ Carson elaborated.

“However, if you live ‘out in the country somewhere by yourself’ and want to own a semi-automatic weapon, he added, ‘I’ve no problem with that.’”

I hope someone will speak with Dr. Carson and correct his “problem” with the Second Amendment.

Neither did I get splashed with the ‘happy juice’ nor do I partake in the newly-legalized trope in this state.

When one’s reality is rooted in the facts, rather than lofty fantasy, the fall is far less painful. The headlines, imho, are ‘fantasy’.

Or, in other words: Enjoy your euphoria...but the ‘crash’ will suck big-time. I do not share the euphoria. I am a cynic. I am also one of hundreds of thousands of Conservatives saddled with a do-nothing, criminal Gubna for another term because this state is already too far gone.

“Feet to the fire” is my mantra. Things change in 90 days or they never change. Tagline is not an afterthought...

I like that team!

Ted Cruz - President
-> best at the bully pulpit of the bunch
Sarah Palin - Vice President
-> imagine her acting as a Republican Whip and thorn in the Democrat’s side
Dr. Ben Carson - Secretary of Health and Human Services

Tell me...if the political landscape is as hopeless as you describe it, why do you bother to follow events on FreeRepublic?

You appear to be subjecting yourself to unnecessary pain.

Thus, the mere fact that you remain active suggests that you harbor some hope...

That elitist, anti self-defense rights comment makes him unacceptable to many, including me.

Well stated points, and accurate. I even agree with you about Allen West.

Gee, I thought you were talking about those naysayers on Free Republic.
The man is brilliant, always consise. He is calming and he doesn’t need a teleprompter to make a great speech.
I love him, have heard him, and trust him to get the job done honestly . After the handlers get done with him...we’ll see.

Carson supports amnesty, gun control and has some delusion about McConnell having a spine.

I think Steve King should run. I think he could win Iowa and fluke NH. Then start making demands of the bigger candidates.

I hope Lynch at least gets some publicity for attacking Rand or Walker for example on amnesty.

For President, I prefer to have someone who has experience in office - preferably a Governor.

I love Ted Cruz but IMHO my money this time around is for Scott Walker.

Forged in the Fire of running in a Socialist Kabutz ( for what 3 or 4 times, I lost track!) called Wisconsin and beating them back to only get all the indy's to bring him to victory works for me.

Gov. Snyder from Michigan as his running mate? Too much of a Rino for me, which leaves me still looking for a VP. Maybe Gov Martinez, or Nicky Haley, Ford's former CEO Alan Mulally for VP would work for me also.

He seems, or seemed in ‘92, to be in favor of government death panels. He wanted the insurance companies to be controlled by the government.

I was for him, I have met him, I liked him, I admired him, I like citizen politicians, as opposed to these professional leeches we have now, but I can’t support him. I haven’t even gotten to the anti-2nd amendment in the inner cities. No, no, no.

Your evaluation of Carson v. West is exactly in line with my views, especially as regards intellectual lightweight Hannity pumping Carson for obvious reasons. Those in this thread advocating Carson needing some political seasoning are also right on the mark. This is especially evident in Carson’s inability to latch on to a consistent 2A position.

In 1992 Carson wrote: “As our general population continues to age and as our technical abilities continue to improve we will find ourselves in a position of being able to keep most people alive...well beyond their 100th birthday. The question is “Should we do it simply because we can? It is well known that up to half of the medical expenses incurred in the average American’s life are incurred during the last six months of life....rather than putting them in an intensive care unit, poking and prodding them, operating and testing them ad nauseam, why not allow them the dignity of dying in comfort, at home, with an attendant if necessary?...Decisions on who should be treated and who should not be treated would clearly require some national guidelines.

He said something about the 2nd amendment not applying to the inner-cities.

“When asked by Glenn Beck if people should be allowed to own semi-automatic weapons, Dr. Benjamin Carson said: “It depends on where you live. I think if you live in the midst of a lot of people, and I’m afraid that that semi-automatic weapon is going to fall into the hands of a crazy person, I would rather you not have it.” (Glenn Beck Show, March 1, 2013)

Ben Carson - no thanks.
