If someone was trying to limit or suppress your First Amendment rights in America today, what would that Tyrant look like? A dictator in a military uniform? Or a soccer mom in a corner office?
A skinny, silver tongued, muslim speaking mulatto with napoleonic delusions but little understanding of American history or colloquialisms, no birth certificate or other ID, but sporting his own dual teleprompters wherever he goes?
Valarie Jarrett? Hillary Clinton? Pocahontas from Massachusetts? Take your pick.

One hundred years from now, if this nation or humankind still exist, evil will be personified by these “wolves in sheep clothing”. They appear nice and normal because the public has yet to see their black souls.
At the time, about 90 years ago, Hitler was portrayed as a charismatic progressive, and Stalin was a strong compassionate leader. It was only when millions were killed, and they were eventually defeated or died, and historians examined their records that the public realized that they were evil.
The problem is that although these evil people always speak or write of their evil intent before carrying out their programs, (Mein Kampf being the most obvious example), the public is unaware or discounts their writings and statements as hyperbole. There is just too much cognitive dissonance for the average citizen to believe that some people could be so malicious and evil. So we have denial.
As the tyranny progresses, some people consciously adopt the attitude of their oppressors as a means or survival. Through brainwashing, many more will subconsciously adopt their oppressors moral constructs as a way to assuage their angst and dissonance even when it means their own self destruction. This is the mass Stockholm syndrome we see among LIVs, minorities, poor Dem voters etc.
