Killing Confidence in Our Government
Canada Free Press ^ | 10/19/14 | Alan Caruba

Our confidence in our government must be restored with new leadership.

What has been the over-riding theme of life in America since Barack Obama became President in 2008?

It has been the continued loss of confidence Americans have regarding various elements of the federal government. From the Centers for Disease Control, the Veterans Administration, the Secret Service, to the Department of Justice and the Internal Revenue Service, these and other agencies have been tainted in ways that have turned his two terms into a litany of scandals and failures.

Obama is a President for whom politics is the sole reason against which every decision is made.

The latest example was the naming of an Ebola Czar. “Sources confirm to Fox News that President Obama plans to name Ron Klain, a longtime political hand with no apparent medical or health background.” In the past, Klain has served as chief of staff to Al Gore and Joe Biden. Does this make you feel any better about the Ebola threat?

It’s all part of Fubar Obama’s plan.

Thoughts from an early American President who also happened to be the Author of its philosophical statement of principles, the Declaration of Independence.

Excerpted last paragraph of Thomas Jefferson's Second Inaugural:

"I shall now enter on the duties to which my fellow-citizens have again called me, and shall proceed in the spirit of those principles which they have approved. I fear not that any motives of interest may lead me astray; I am sensible of no passion which could seduce me knowingly from the path of justice, but the weaknesses of human nature and the limits of my own understanding will produce errors of judgment sometimes injurious to your interests. I shall need, therefore, all the indulgence which I have heretofore experienced from my constituents; the want of it will certainly not lessen with increasing years. I shall need, too, the favor of that Being in whose hands we are, who led our fathers, as Israel of old, from their native land and planted them in a country flowing with all the necessaries and comforts of life; who has covered our infancy with His providence and our riper years with His wisdom and power, and to whose goodness I ask you to join in supplications with me that He will so enlighten the minds of your servants, guide their councils, and prosper their measures that whatsoever they do shall result in your good, and shall secure to you the peace, friendship, and approbation of all nations." - Thomas Jefferson, Second Inaugural

We might also note that earlier in the same Address, President Jefferson had observed:
"In matters of religion I have considered that its free exercise is placed by the Constitution independent of the powers of the General Government. I have therefore undertaken on no occasion to prescribe the religious exercises suited to it, but have left them, as the Constitution found them, under the direction and discipline of the church or state authorities acknowledged by the several religious societies." - Thomas Jefferson, Second Inaugural

I support the old concept of truly LIMITED government.

On that basis, I am glad to see many of the American people losing all confidence in the government. Perhaps we would all be better off if we simply wanted the government to protect borders, hold courts, and deliver the mail. No schools, no Federal Reserve, no EPA, no corporate subsidies, etc.

This is a must read. How I wish for magical powers to have it printed in the NYT, front cover, above the fold. Top story on all news. A summing up of what obama has done to our government and thus our nation.

You know how you get a perfect government? You staff it with perfect people. There are no perfect people, so you staff it with the best people you can get. Our Founders provided us with a pretty good means of government if we would just follow their guidance. The other thing we can do is to try and get people to the “perfect” stage.

I think that the way to do that is to model yourself after someone who was/is perfect. I paraphrase here.....

“Love the Lord with everything you’ve got and treat other people like you would want to be treated if you were in their shoes.”

We try to make everything so hard when the simple answer is right there in front of us.

Well, yeah. They don’t do so well with the mail — but at least that’s in the Constitution.

“Our confidence in our government must be restored with new leadership.”

Conservatives have NEVER had confidence in our government. We had confidence in “We the People”.

Since “We the People” elected Obama and the rest, conservatives have lost that confidence.

Why did the people elect Obama, etc? We stopped being a Christian nation.

Pray for revival!

......jeez!..........why the mail???

..........it’s Union is one of the largest (APWU, American Postal Workers Union, AFL-CIO), if not THE largest, in the federal gov’t which not surprisingly gives us the piss poor service we get. I tried to mail a simple envelope to Capital One recently. It took ten days! Lesson: If a piece of mail is in ANY hurry whatsoever, send it fedex or UPS.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...
