The Chinese realize that every government is a tyranny. There is no true democracy any more. So they treat all governments equally and just talk money with no discussions about human rights, energy conservation, environmental protection, etc.

If we dealt with Venezuela the same way we dealt with Chile, not giving a damn whether the government claimed to be leftwing, rightwing, communist, libertarian, democratic, autocratic, etc. then we might make some headway.

If we ourselves were a Christian nation with morals we could claim the high ground. But that hasn't been true for some time now.

So we might as well root around in the mud with the Chinese and just make it all about the money.

“If we ourselves were a Christian nation with morals we could claim the high ground.”

Christianity is growing like crazy in China.

Instead of expanding militarily, China invests money in infrastructure to create alliances.

All is not well in China financially. I expect a financial crisis there as well as here. They have their own version of misallocation of government funds, their own version of crony capitalism, their own real estate bubble.

The shift in financial power and wealth is definitely toward Asia.
