And thinking people evaluate whether the comparison is apt.

Idiots either accept the comparison as valid just because it was made, or reject the comparison because it was inevitable that the comparison be made and evaluation requires mental effort.

Neither set of idiots have much integrity or virtue.

Godard ‘ Law was one of those lines that are funny the first time you hear it, but are intellectually vacuous when examined.

Godwin's law--"As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1."-—​ that is, if an online discussion goes on long enough, sooner or later someone will compare someone or something to Hitler or Nazism.
