Mexican President: Anti-Immigration Americans Are Racist

Sunday on CNN's "Fareed Zakaria GPS," Mexico's President Enrique Peña Nieto said the anti-immigration views of many Americans is racist.

Zakaria asked, "When you hear some of the anti-immigrant language, the rhetoric, do you think it's racist?"

Nieto answered, "I think it's discriminatory, yes, and I think it's unfortunate for a country whose formation and historic origin relies so much on the migration flows of many parts, Europe and Asia, for instance. I think this is a country whose origin to a great extent is one of migration and that's why it's unfortunate to hear this exclusionary and discriminatory tones regarding migration flows into the United States."(continued)

There is a difference between legal immigration and slipping over the border illegally. I have no problem with a balanced immigration policy. I do have a problem with illegal entry into our country and I say this as a first generation American whose parents came to America legally.

He and the ruling class in Mexico are the racists. The Mexicans that are coming here don't look like him or his family. He must not be aware of the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. The Spaniards look down on the true Mexicans. They don't want them in Mexico. They want all their uneducated, poor, welfare cases, criminals, etc. to be our problem. The president of Mexico is a racist. He doesn't want the Aztec looking Mexicans in Mexico. He wants to ship them to us. You see Mexicans that look like him and his family coming here? I sure don't.

I got news for el presidente: Mexico is one of the biggest loser nations on the planet. Despite their petroleum and mineral wealth, their people are the Republic of Congo of the Western hemisphere. Non-stop violent crime, virtually no rule of law, a government that pegs the corruption meter, and one of the most dangerous places on the planet. And all that was brought to you not by bad luck, or divine providence, but by the lackluster people who live there.
