What was really the point here?
As to don’t use your firearm as a club, glibly spoken by armchair QBs. In the heat of the moment one does what one can.
And often, shooting at the animals is not much of an option. Lest the innocent victim be shot.
870 “wood” stock where it attaches to the metal frame can easily be broken with a quick butt stroke from the ready carry position into a hard headed object....one will then have a slightly less than pistol grip shotgun.
if they can get that close to an 870 under my control good luck with that. If I have a .45 government model in my hand even more so. You really think I would have to pistol whip someone while wielding one, get real. My hand fits a 45 like a glove. That being said an m16 isn’t a proper battle weapon close up either, An m14 on the other hand will take your head off at close quarters if you use it like a battle axe.
I was charged at from a close concealed position in darkness on my stock side, I didn’t have time to turn the barrel and the perp was “unarmed”, and I couldn’t shoot if I could have. while the stock broke, the attack was stopped and dropped with one stroke, story was just for information, I thought the stocks were stronger but found out there is a hollow hole with bolt that attaches the stock to metal. the neck is the weak point.
Glad you’re still here. You’re no stranger to danger obviously. See, that’s what I’m talking about. Underarm technigue was for this very situation. It isn’t a technique used from any of the scenarios I’ve seen in a long time. But in my long expired squadron that was the norm and I was in the largest Phantom squadron in existence.
We need more bayonet options for those who care enough to not abuse their weapons when out of ammo.
