It’s not IQ. It’s will.

Anyone with a room-temperature IQ can learn if they want to.
Anyone with an oven-temperature IQ won’t learn if they don’t want to.

I know what you’re getting at, and as a former professor assure you (with rare exceptions) those who wanted to learn did, and those who didn’t failed - and IQ wasn’t an issue.

Well.. while it's true that everyone has the capacity to learn. (even the mentally retarded can learn basic skills and information to help them get through life) and it's also true that those that WANT to learn can and do certainly perform better than those of equal intelligence that have no interest in learning.

But schools are graded by how well their students perform on standardized tests in comparison to others of the same age.

Even if you are teaching at a special ed school where all the students are highly motivated, want to learn, have caring involved parents and each student is taught one on one by the best teachers in the world...

They STILL wont perform as good on a standardized test as others their age (because they have a 50 IQ) Thus causing the school to get a poor rating.

You can't ignore the IQ of those entering the school in other words.

This is true and I tutored kids and proved it. They weren't in the running for top ranking in grades and weren't taking over the chess & math clubs.

They studied, worked at understanding the topics and graduated without having to repeat grades or classes.
