I didn’t think the commercial was that bad. one question did come to mind though. why no women or minorities. all other armed services commercial are majority, minority.
(to use an Orwellian phrase).

1. The graphic artist recruit is wearing eye makeup. Subtle... but it’s there.

2. The U.S. Army should not be recruiting graphic artists — homosexual, heterosexual or otherwise. The U.S. Army should not be depicted as a mere alternative to “expensive art school.”

3. Yes, this is a pitiful message. And there’s no question it targets men who (even if heterosexual) probably shouldn’t be in the U.S. Army.
