Wow. Just realized I made a really serious mistaken in the earlier post.

Meant to say the Jim Crow boys weren’t Leftists. They very obviously were racists.

Mea culpa.

I agree one wing of the Democrat Party was as you describe, but not the other main wing. It is, in my opinion very unfortunately, also true that for most Republicans after the period of Reconstruction, not a major goal to enforce equal treatment by race under the law.

This is terribly unfortunate because this was the sole issue of the 20th century on which leftists were indisputably on the right moral side, while (most) conservatives were at best not terribly concerned about the issue. They have built their entire edifice of assumed moral superiority on this issue ever since.

It is my contention that both wings and the entire bird of the Democrat Party has always held that blacks are incapable of managing their lives and need Whitey’s help. The only thing that’s changed is the facade.

From my essay about the evolution of Leftist elitism:

“...Slave-holders in the Antebellum South echoed their Aristocratic forebears in believing that they were doing black slaves a service by managing their lives and making their physical abilities productive. Otherwise, they would be living the ‘short, brutish’ lives of savages. This idea is carried forth to this day as the Party of Jim Crow still holds that blacks and other minorities cannot take care of themselves w/o help from whites [and minorities who have been properly vetted] who are are smarter and know better. The idea that minorities could be empowered to see to their own personal and economic security is viewed with a combination of fear and derision by the Left.”

As Ayn Rand noted in her speech “Conservatism: An Obituary” the forces for freedom within the GOP and the conservative movement are very weak, if at all.

They seem to be too embarrassed to explicitly say that they stand for freedom and their opponents stand for tyranny, settling instead to emulate an European Conservative Party and run on being more efficient to manage a social welfare state.

They have allowed the Left to sell the American people [particularly minorities] on the idea that freedom is old-fashioned, while tyranny is cutting edge and innovative.
