That WILL get ugly. Prepare yourself mentally now. I don’t know much about the demographics or attitudes in Calgary, but I do know that when headchoppers aren’t dealt with directly and harshly, they’re emboldened. I honor you for your bravery and take any bad things I may have said about Canadians.

Thank you for your comments and advice. I am not the organizer and only found out about the rally last night. I am passing this info amongst friends and acquaintances. I believe that there may be a few FReepers in Calgary who might not know about this yet. Mayor Nenshi is, above all, a publicity hound politician, so he WILL have to do something about ensuring our RIGHT to a peaceful rally. Sun News Network will be out in full force to cover the rally, as Ezra Levant, a SNN journalist, commentator and lawyer, will be MC'ing the rally. If Nenshi keeps the police away, like he did last week and the thugs attack, coverage will be nation-wide, and possibly more wide-spread. Such action will most certainly cost him more votes that the ones he gets from his fellow Muslims in Calgary.

The fact that the CPS and the Mayor's office are not prepared to defend freedom of speech, freedom of association and freedom from attack based upon one's political or religious view, is unacceptable. While our rights and freedoms that are guaranteed under our Constitution, and Charter of Rights and Freedoms, they do differ from those of the US. Among our 'fundamental rights' (Section of the Charter) are: "Section 2: which lists what the Charter calls "fundamental freedoms" namely freedom of conscience, freedom of religion, freedom of thought, freedom of belief, freedom of expression, freedom of the press and of other media of communication, freedom of peaceful assembly, and freedom of association." In addition, Section 7 guarantees the right to life, liberty, and security of the person.
