Why?
The upper/lower configuration is more than enough.
Swapping an upper with a zeroed optic takes two pins and ten seconds.
I watched until he gripped the barrel to detach it. Great way to fry your hand.
Why? You ask Why?!! WHY?!!!
I’ll tell you why!
Because... um... Well, you can... um...
Heck with it. I have absolutely *NO* idea why you would want to swap the barrel only and have to re-zero, instead of slapping on another zero’ed upper and being instantly ready to go. I’ve been sitting here thinking and I can’t think of a logical, rational reason to do this. I don’t even see the “cool factor”.
If there is a good reason to do this rather than slap on a zeroed, complete upper, I’m not seeing it.
Did you watch the Video? They claim that it re-zeros with attachment.
This is a take-down system allowing more compact storage, not really ideal for switching barrels hot (as with a belt-fed machine gun.) I'm sure someone will come up with a tacticool silicone barrel sleeve for it, though. Kinda like those things used on hot skillet handles.
More compact storage and carry (like in an unobtrusive attache case) is the big reason. To fit an assembled upper in a similar case, you'd have to go with a pistol-length barrel and deal with the SBR paperwork.
I’m intrigued!! If I can swap a 5.56 for 300blk (sub-sonic loads) and keep the same zero using the same scope, I would be seriously impressed!! But, I don’t believe they can do it. I’m still calling “Bull Butter”!
Hauling around another barrel isn't in my SHTF plans.
"... like in an unobtrusive attache case ..."
There is probably *some* consumer demand for fitting a rifle in an attache' case and I'm sure they will sell some. I'm just not seeing the consumer demand. But, to each his own... Hat's-Off to them if they are still selling this in a couple years!
