It was not so long ago that there were plenty of people who looked upon Yellow Journalism as "for the little guy".

Progressives do not want to discuss their own history. I want to discuss their history.

Summary: The way we look at yellow journalism today is not how the view looks a century ago. They may never have been completely "respected", but everybody knew where the yellows stood and plenty appreciated it.
"My laundress recently told me of the oppression of one of her neighbors, by an overbearing landlord, and concluded with: "Do you think I'd stand that? Well, I wouldn't! I'd go right straight and tell the Journal!"
