Economic patriotism = fascism

Companies must hire more people, pay their taxes, participate in Obamacare, and support the Government at all costs.  That’s the strong message that President Obama has been spouting for years, and the answer-men and women with whom he’s surrounded himself are simply his bullhorns.

…I’m going to reduce the deficit in a balanced way.  We’ve already made a trillion dollars’ worth of cuts.  We can make another trillion or trillion-two, and what we then do is ask for the wealthy to pay a little bit more…

…look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own.  You didn’t get there on your own…

…If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that.  Somebody else made that happen.  The Internet didn’t get invented on its own.  Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

The czars running our government seem astonished when people and companies just don’t act like proper “citizens” and do what the government needs them to do.  When those citizens and corporations misbehave, they are chided at their lack of “economic patriotism”.

[W]e can make even more progress if Congress is willing to work with my administration and to set politics aside, at least occasionally, which I know is what the American people are urgently looking for… It’s a sort of economic patriotism where you say to yourself, how is it that we can start rebuilding this country to make sure that all of the young people who are here but their kids and their grandkids are going to be able to enjoy the same incredible opportunities that this country offers as we have.  That’s our job.  That’s what we should be focused on.

You must agree with me, or you’re not pulling your weight, you’re somehow a poor citizen, you’re not a patriot, you hate America.  That’s the message.

When corporations flee overseas, they are being unpatriotic.  If they fail to get with the program, they should be forced to do so.

In a letter to leaders of the congressional tax-writing committees, Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew said lawmakers "should enact legislation immediately…to shut down this abuse of our tax system." The letter was reviewed by The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday night.

When companies don’t hire enough workers, or turn full time workers into part time, it can’t be the Obama administration’s fault.  It’s unpatriotic for businesses to avoid Obamacare triggers.

Last month involuntary part-timers swelled to 7.5 million, compared with 4.4 million in 2007. Way too many adults now depend on the low-wage, part-time jobs that teenagers would normally fill. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen had it right in March when she said: "The existence of such a large pool of partly unemployed workers is a sign that labor conditions are worse than indicated by the unemployment rate."

Mortimer Zuckerman has reached the same conclusion as many businesses and investors.

Five years after the Great Recession, more than 24 million working-age Americans remain jobless, working part-time involuntarily or having left the workforce. We are not in the middle of a recovery. We are in the middle of a muddle-through, and there's no point in pretending that the sky is blue when so many millions can attest to dark clouds.

To Obama and his supporters, the economy is failing to revive because unpatriotic Americans, especially Republicans, disagree with his plan.  No thought is given to human nature, profit motive, or American cultural preferences.  We should all be with the program, or forced to be by the coercive power of the State.

It’s not so hard to put this all together.

• Obama and his cronies believe that the nation should be unified through a powerful federal government that promotes the mass mobilization of the national community.
• The government should legislate business behavior using a mix of private and public ownership of the means of production.
• Economic planning should be applied to the public and private sector, and the prosperity of private enterprise should depend on its acceptance of synchronizing itself with the economic goals of the government.

This is fascism, pure and simple.
