Eric Holder and an Administration of Cowardice [Video]

Eric Holder

Although I am not a psychiatrist, I have stayed at a Holiday Inn. So coupling that with the following facts, I feel qualified to offer my opinion and draw the conclusion that the current Attorney General of the United States, Eric Holder and the administration he serves, not the citizens of this great country are the cowards he referenced in his now infamous "Nation of Cowards" speech on the subject of American race relations. This judgment is based on the recent public service history of Mr. Holder and after a common sense review of that record.

The first incident which brought Mr. Holder to my attention was his involvement as the deputy attorney general advising the Clinton administration in the matter of the Marc Rich pardon. The news reports at the time piqued my interest and I was riveted to C-Span for the duration of the hearings. Although I saw with my own eyes and heard with my own ears, I was still perplexed as to Holder’s admission that he was unaware of some key facts of the case as well as some procedural actions required in preparing the pardon for Mr. Rich. With I’m sure what is more than a mediocre education, with a full working knowledge of the legal system, rules of evidence and court procedures, how could what seemed to be some basic or routine steps necessary in preparing a case, be missed by the lead attorney? At the very least and especially in the twelfth hour as this pardon was made, surely any prudent attorney would keep his immediate superior(s) apprised of the case? Janet Reno, attorney Holder’s boss, seemed unaware of her subordinate’s activities and his being ill-prepared to properly advise on the pardon. When pressed for reasons why pardon was granted, Mr. Holder stated the official position as “neutral leaning favorable.” Also he cites a “distraction by other matters and poor judgment” as well. With the confusion and questions which still surround this matter, why did Ms. Reno fail to intervene?

More recent is the contempt of congress charge passed by the House of Representatives June 29, 2012. The charge stems from the investigation by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee into the Fast and Furious “gun-walking” scheme in Arizona. It is alleged that Mr. Holder has failed to provide documents relevant to the investigation subpoenaed by congress. The death of border patrol agent Brian Terry possibly with a gun from this operation is also in question. Attorney general Holder and members of his staff insist no wrongdoing occurred and they are cooperating fully. In a comparative sense the tenor of Mr. Holder’s testimony here and in the Marc Rich matter is quite similar. Both show the ability to answer questions with non-answers and become indignant when pressed to stop his filibuster.

It would seem that as the top law enforcement official in the country he would have been extremely disturbed by what most would call voter intimidation at the polls by members of the New Black Panther Party during the presidential election in Philadelphia 2008. Although a case was filed in 2009, the Department of Justice dropped the charges a few months later. Again it seems what appears a clear-cut case for Mr. Holder to exercise his authority and perform the requirements of his office was exchanged for political expediency. Certainly law enforcement officials have discretion when it comes to filing charges and proceeding with prosecutions, but this was in my view a case of selective non-prosecution because of the race of the accused. IS it not the sworn duty of the attorney general to apply the law equally? Blind justice and equal protection under the law is a basic tenet of our judicial system. Again, any review of the facts surrounding this matter will beg the question why did he not do his job?

Another example which I believe shows Mr. Holder’s willingness to selectively apply “equal justice under the law” was during the Treyvon Martin/George Zimmerman trial. Why after exhaustive investigation into Mr. Zimmerman’s past for incidents of racial discrimination and prejudice on Zimmerman’s part, by local authorities and the Department of Justice (DOJ), and none was found, did the Attorney General of The United States do nothing to quell the racial flames which were brewing during proceedings? Instead he remained blissfully silent and tacitly compliant while the race traders misinformed the public and the embers of hate smoldered.

These examples and other decisions by this administration are the reasons to question the ability and sincerity of Eric Holder to follow his sworn oath to follow the Constitution and uphold the laws of the land. It seems his application of the law is determined by the direction of the current political wind and his preconceived notion of what justice should be; that is to say setting the record straight for past racial injustices irrespective of current law and without regard to sacrifices made by courageous leaders in the past to insure proper legal remedies are available for all. It is his continuing efforts to shade the truth, to delay the truth being known and using his office of privilege in unlawful ways which highlight his reluctance to show the courage which his office demands. By definition, Eric Holder and the entire Obama Administration are mired in cowardice.

The answer to the author’s question is that Eric Holder is a thug and a criminal just like his boss 0bama. Just like his previous bosses the Clintons.
