McALLEN - Mexico's foreign relations minister visited McAllen Tuesday to meet with U.S. immigration officials and tour a detention center.
Jose Antonio Meade also met with leaders of non-profit agencies helping with the immigration crisis in the region.
Meade visited a detention center to oversee the administrative processes and confirm that the facilities meet safety and health protocols. Meade said Mexico's government wants to ensure the immigrants' human rights are not violated.
Meade later visited Sacred Heart Catholic Church in downtown McAllen. The church's parish hall has become the epicenter in the effort to help immigrants released from Border Patrol custody. Workers at the site spoke with Meade about the challenges and threats children face during their journey from Central America and Mexico to the Rio Grande Valley.
The minister also met with McAllen Mayor Jim Darling. He said cooperation between Mexican and American authorities is paramount to deal with the current surge in illegal immigration.

All it took was an open invitation. Come one, come all.
Hope he came with enough buses to take all these people BACK TO F**KING MEXICO!
LOL! Right, like THAT’S gonna happen!!
Take them home and guarantee their human rights in person.
Meanwhile our marine is rotting in a Mexican jail where he is being beaten, not fed properly and threatened by guards and inmates. Does that summarize it?
I presume he brought lots of underwear ... otherwise, why go?
I strongly suspect the visit by Mexico’s foreign relations minister, was paid for by the U.S. gov’t, our tax dollars.
Personally I try to avoid the practice of betting, but this would be pretty much a sure thing.
I am sure Mexico will stop the river of humanity riding across Mexican territory on Mexican trains.
Gee...
I wonder why no one has reported that the Mexican Ambassador was arrested on his junket and was taken to a secret jail, where HE will rot until our marine is returned to the US?

Yet more in-your-face arrogance. I am a lady, so I will not post what I am thinking right now. So angry.
Why doesn’t he visit that marine sitting in a Mexican prison and see how his conditions are?
