Most of them don’t get filthy rich. Few have the huge multi-million dollar salaries. Most have very short careers in the NFL. Then they hit a wall because they don’t have an education and don’t have any other skills.

The league minimum is $285,000. The league average salary is $1.9 million.
No one owes these people anything. They, like all of us, make their own beds. No one told them not to become a CPA.
