That’s good news. I think it’s been fewer than five years since Virginia (of all states!) has allowed carrying in restaurants that serve alcohol. They still do not allow drinking while in these restaurants, which I consider to be a reasonable restriction.

article is a little misleading. New York, New Jersey, California (except for a recent court case), and Mass all have restrictive licensing laws that deny most people the ability to lawfully carry a handgun anywhere (except to and from a range, hunting, etc). the few people who are issued carry permits are thoroughly vetted, to make sure they can be trusted. Most States make the assumption they can trust you with a gun (unless you show them otherwise by being in trouble with the law), but are so they can trust you with a gun and alcohol. Those States are slowly coming around. The Left Leaning states are not.

The public policies here are different, and the article deliberately misses that. Would you want to live in a State that trusts 80 % of its people 80% of the time (LA), or one that trust 5% of its people 95% of the time (NY, NJ, CA)?.
